With highly unlikely probability, two major hurricanes struck Florida in the vicinity of the St.Lucie Nuclear Power Plant within three weeks of each other. Over 11,000 ft. shoreline fronting the power plant was heavily damaged. Coastal vegetation was decimated.

The well established dune system lost over 235,000 cubic yards of sand. Seaward of the Intake Canal the dune breached. Fronting the Discharge Canal, a 10 ft. high scarp formed and the beach receded 30 ft. In some places the shoreline receded up to 80 ft, We prepared an emergency dune restoration plan for the distressed beach which included designs of construction templates, estimations of fill volumes, and developed a re-vegetation plan.
