Jefferson Parish Pumping Stations included in contract are: Bayou Segnette Old & New, Westwego 1 & 2, Westminster, Ames & Mt.. Kennedy. The overall task of the contract is to evaluate and apply new, elevated design criteria and methodologies towards the creation of higher and stronger hurricane flood water fronting protection for seven (7) pumping stations situated throughout Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The new fronting protection will include the design of new concrete T-Wall structures, situated uniquely at each site, to provide a flood barrier between the pump station outfall pipes and the high water side of the site. In most cases the work includes the necessary extension of existing discharge pipes further away from the pump station and through the new fronting walls. The preferred wall system indicated by the USACE for this project is concrete T-Wall, a type of cantilevered retaining wall system. The walls are conceived to be deep pile supported and to include a sheet pile cut-off wall below the foundation cap to negate under flowage below structures. Fronting walls will include the necessary road and access gates demanded by each site and shall tie-in at the existing levee.
