The Rod-N-Reel Marina was completely destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The new marina redevelopment project -Lost Key Marinaconsists of three floating docks with 81 ships for vessels ranging from 30-ft to 60-ft. The seaward
extent of the three docks consists of floating wave attenuators to protect the basin from big lagoon fetch and storm waves. The marina will be a full service marina providing electricity, telephone, CATV, and water at each ship, along with fuel and sewage pump out facilities. The marina will be ADA compliant with a new ADA aluminum gangway servicing the central dock. A new steel sheet pile bulkhead will replace the existing deteriorated one, and designed to support a 120,000 lb forklift, which services the dry storage operation.
