Description

The Miami Intermodal Center -MIC- will serve as a hub for all of the different modes of Miami-Dade County transportation. The MIC project will be constructed directly adjacent to the Miami International Airport. All forms of ground transportation including the Metrorail, Tri-Rail, Buses, Taxis and Rental Cars will feed into MIC and serve more efficiently the MIA traffic. The structure is composed of several different unique challenges as the architectural requirements provide for a wonderful aesthetic statement. Long, slender columns provide for a tropical look at the main entrance to the MIC concourse. The roof over the pedestrian corridor is composed of an arched concrete shell structure allowing for skylights while providing for a rounded roof shape, blending the corridor in with all of the surrounding roofs serving the trains and buses.
